19.08.2024

Summer School of Russian as a foreign Language and Russian Country Studies ‘Russian ASPECT: August. Siberia. Pushkin’ of Omsk State Pedagogical University has come to an end. The educational programme was attended by foreign citizens who came from Vietnam and China to get acquainted with Russian culture and language.

As part of the Summer School programme, the foreign students studied the basics of the grammatical structure of the Russian language, improved their Russian speaking skills, and got acquainted with Russia's cultural peculiarities and lexical diversity.

The foreign students shared their impressions of the classes at OSPU, noting that language learning was incredibly interesting: the students sang songs, watched short films, read poems, attended excursions and cultural events. As a result, their level of Russian language skills became much better.

Gao Xingyu, a student from China, who was impressed by the excursion, shared her thoughts: ‘I am interested in Russia: history, language, culture, nature. I liked the trip to Vasin Khutor. There we learned about national life and traditions. I had a chance to communicate not only with city residents, but also with villagers’.

All the participants of the Summer School especially appreciated the visit to the Apple Savior celebration in the Vasin Khutor ethno-park. The interactive programme included acquaintance and immersion in the culture and peasant life of native Siberians in the open air. Foreign guests joined in a round dance, get the water with a shoulder-yoke, took part in folk games and amusements, as well as in the masterclass ‘Juicy Apple’.

‘I came to Russia to study Russian and enter a Russian university. The intensive Russian language course helped me to get to know Omsk people and their traditions. I think it will help in my further studies. I really enjoyed sitting with my friends at a wide table filled with delicious food in a real peasant house. Now I understand what the famous Russian roads are like,’ said Vu Xuan Thang, a student from Vietnam.

Students of the Summer School of Russian as a foreign Language and Russian Country Studies ‘Russian ASPECT: August. Siberia. Pushkin’ expressed their gratitude to the teachers of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and the staff of the IInternational Cooperation Office.
